Modderday
Engineering & technical consulting

Engineering, done right the first time.

Modderday is a small, senior engineering practice in Los Angeles. We build, fix, and look after the software businesses run on — then hand it back documented, dependable, and fully yours.

The practice
Est. 2024

We would rather build less software, more carefully, than more software, less so.

Most of the work we are asked to do has been started before — sometimes by a previous vendor, sometimes by a team that has since moved on. The job is to take an honest look at what is there, decide what is worth keeping, and build the next part in a way that the people who come after us can trust and extend. We measure ourselves on whether the work still runs well after we have left.

Lovelent

A wedding platform — the website and tools couples use to plan and share their day — designed, built, and run end to end, from the software to the infrastructure behind it. In development now, ahead of an early-access launch.

§ 03
What we do
Four areas
  1. i.

    Building software

New software built from scratch, and careful rebuilds of systems that have outgrown themselves — customer-facing websites and apps, internal tools, and the day-to-day software a business actually runs on.

  2. ii.

    Systems & IT

Moving your systems to the cloud, keeping access secure, and making sure you know the moment something breaks. We leave you with clear instructions and a team that can run it — not a number you have to keep calling.

  3. iii.

    A second opinion

An honest review before a big decision becomes expensive to undo — checking the software you already have, vetting a vendor or a hire, or pressure-testing a plan before you commit to it. Usually a few weeks.

  4. iv.

    Automation

Replacing slow, manual, copy-and-paste work with software that does it for you — built properly, so it keeps working long after the person who first set it up has moved on.

§ 04
How we work
Three steps

Hiring an outside team should not feel like a leap of faith. Here is exactly how an engagement goes.

  1. 01

    We start in writing

Before any work begins, we agree on a short, plain-English plan that says what we will do, what it costs, and how long it will take. No open-ended bills, no surprises.

  2. 02

    We work alongside you

A small group of senior people, in regular contact with whoever on your side will own the work — so the knowledge stays with your business, not just with us.

  3. 03

    We hand it off cleanly

You finish with working software, plain documentation, and full ownership of everything we built. You are never locked in, and never left guessing how it works.

You own everything we build once it is paid for. Our agreements are written in plain English, and we reply within one working day.

Contact

Let's talk about the work.

Tell us what you are trying to do and roughly when. A few sentences is plenty — we will reply within one working day.
